#7 Living ecosystem

Of all the eco-regions in Canada, the St. Lawrence Lowlands contain the greatest number of living species. Biodiversity is heightened in Two Creeks Conservation Area by the presence of nine distinct ecosystems. Together, they support over 300 native types of fish, plants and mammals, including rare species. The Great Lakes–St. Lawrence River basin contains over 160 species at risk.

The five-lined skink is Ontario’s only native species of lizard and lives in large rock formations in the Great Lakes–St. Lawrence forest region.
