Black Crappie (Pomoxis nigromaculatus)


Black CrappieDescription: Black Crappie has a deep, thin, flat body with silvery sides marked with irregular black blotches and a distinctive upturned snout. The typical length is 4–8 in (10–20 cm).

Habitat: In May and June, Black Crappie is found in shallow, weedy areas and around fallen trees, stumps, and other shoreline obstructions. It seeks deeper waters in summer and fall.
