Groundwater

Groundwater is found beneath the Earth’s surface, in the spaces between particles of rock and soil, known as aquifers. Groundwater is difficult if not impossible to clean once contaminated, so it is critical to protect areas of groundwater recharge, which occurs at surface waters.

SNC monitors water chemistry (nutrients, metals, chloride and nitrates) and quantity to protect the source that supplies drinking, washing, farming, and manufacturing water from contamination and overuse.
