Section 1 - Watershed Planning and Policy Framework

This chapter summarizes human settlement in the Bear Brook Watershed and includes results from an archaeological screening. It also includes a summary of the Watershed Planning process in Ontario.


Section 2 - Physical Setting: Geology, Soils, and Landscape

This chapter describes the geological events that shaped the Bear Brook Watershed, leading to current land cover (2024) results.


Section 3 - Water Resources

Surface water and groundwater resources of the Bear Brook Watershed are described, and a Water Budget is presented.  


Section 4 - Natural Hazards

Flood and erosion hazards are detailed, including the regulated hazard limits. 


Section 5 – Fluvial Geomorphology

This chapter provides a summary of channel morphology conditions and trends.


Section 6 – Water Quality and Stream Health 

The water quality of the Bear Brook Watershed is described using water chemistry, water temperature, DNA sampling of benthic invertebrates, and traditional benthic invertebrate assessments. 


Section 7 – Natural Heritage Systems

The natural heritage system is presented and the ecological health of the Bear Brook Watershed is assessed.
