19-Jan-2018 19-Jan-2018

Are you looking to immerse yourself in protecting our local natural resources this summer? South Nation Conservation (SNC) is now accepting applications for summer student positions!

Current college and university students are encouraged to apply for SNC’s summer positions, lasting 4-months. Job opportunities are available within: Communications and Outreach, Corporate Services, Engineering, Property and Approvals, and Stewardship.

“We’re proud to be in the position of creating summer jobs for talented students,” said Hannah Jackson, SNC’s Accounting Analyst. “The 4-month term is a great option for students enrolled in a Co-Op or internship program.”

From working in the field conducting surveys with forestry and fisheries specialists to delivering education programs, students have the opportunity to experience more than one discipline over the course of the summer.

“Interested applicants are asked to submit their resume and a short cover letter by February 2, 2018,” added Jackson.

With support from Federal and Provincial funding agencies, SNC is the largest student and recent graduate employer in the area.

Internship and Co-Op opportunities are available year-round as funding and projects arise. Approximately 20 students and recent graduates are employed by the Conservation Authority each year.

Mentored every step of the way, students gain a greater understanding of the environmental impacts around them, as well as the ins and outs of working for a not-for-profit organization.
