All Aboard the SNC Fall Bus Tour!

One of the best ways to get a close-up view of the local landscape is by coach. You don’t have to focus on the driving, you’re up high looking through expansive windows, and the seats are extra comfy.

That’s just part of the attraction of the annual South Nation Conservation bus tour coming up September 19th, rain or shine. The bus departs SNC’s office in Finch at 8 am, returning at 4 pm.

The cost is $10/person, including a bagged lunch. First-come, first-served for reservations. Book your spot by contacting Holly Nyenkamp at 1-877-984-2948, ext. 370, or hnyenkamp@nation.on.ca.

While the tour is a relaxing way to spend the day, Holly Nyenkamp, SNC’s Communications and Outreach Assistant pointed out the main objective is to inform residents about the ecology that is right outside their backdoors… or, in this case, their bus windows.

“Tour participants over the years have been amazed at what they’ve discovered about area water resources, flood control measures, wildlife and fish habitat, reforestation, and pollution reduction partnerships with the agricultural community and other property owners” added Nyenkamp.

This time, the tour is headed to the Upper South Nation River Region of SNC’s jurisdiction, through parts of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.

“We focus on a new region of the watershed every year during our tour, which lets us showcase different environmental projects while highlighting key programs and services.”

SNC staff describe points of interest along the way and provide more detailed information at several stops where passengers will be invited to briefly disembark the bus.

Attendees should dress in comfortable field clothes and avoid open-toed shoes and sandals.
