Flood Watch — Lower Ottawa River

This FLOOD WATCH statement is an update to the Flood Outlook Statement issued for areas along the Lower Ottawa River (Arnprior to Hawkesbury) on April 11th, 2025.

The Ottawa River Regulating Committee warns that weather events over the next few weeks, in particular events bringing above normal temperatures and heavy rainfall, may lead to levels and flows exceeding flood levels in some locations.

Downgrade to Water Safety Statement

SNC advises that the Flood Outlook Statement of April 11th is being downgraded to a Water Safety Statement. Water levels and flows have declined throughout the week and remain stable.

Weather Forecast: Environment Canada is forecasting approximately 25 mm of rainfall over the next week, with 10 mm forecasted for Saturday and an additional 15 mm forecasted for Monday. Above zero temperatures are forecasted for most of the week with daytime temperatures ranging between 0 and 20 degrees Celsius.

Flood Outlook — Lower Ottawa River

This Flood Outlook Statement is an update to the Flood Outlook Statement issued for areas along the Lower Ottawa River (Arnprior to Hawkesbury) on March 19th, 2025.

Water levels and flows have generally stabilized in all locations along the main stretch of the Ottawa River. With the return of warmer temperatures this weekend and forecasted rainfall, water levels and flows are expected to increase due to snow melt combined with rainfall runoff.

Downgrade to Flood Outlook

SNC advises that the Flood Watch Statement of April 4th is being downgraded to a Flood Outlook. Water levels and flows have declined however, they remain elevated due to saturated soils and ongoing spring conditions.

Weather Forecast: Environment Canada is forecasting less than 10 mm of rainfall over the next week. Above zero temperatures are forecasted for most of the week with daytime temperatures ranging between 0 and 16 degrees Celsius.

South Nation Conservation (SNC) hosted its 78th Annual General Meeting on March 20, 2025, at its head office in Finch, Ontario. The meeting highlighted key accomplishments from the past year and included the election of the 2025–2026
Board Executive.

SNC advises that a Flood Watch Statement is being extended in anticipation of additional snowmelt and rainfall in the upcoming week.

Weather Forecast: Environment Canada is forecasting approximately 35 mm of rainfall over the next week, with up to 20 mm forecasted on Saturday, and the potential for an additional 15 mm of rainfall by next Friday. Daytime temperatures will likely
melt remaining snow adding additional runoff to
local systems.

FLOOD WATCH

SNC advises that a Flood Watch Statement is being issued in anticipation of freezing rain, rainfall, and snow melt next week.

Weather Forecast: Environment Canada is forecasting up to 15 cm of snow Saturday, turning into ice pellets and freezing rain Sunday. Rainfall of up to 30 mm of rain is forecasted by Monday evening, with up to an additional 20 mm of rain forecasted by the following Friday. Above seasonal temperature highs of 16°C are expected on Monday and Thursday.

SNC advises that the Flood Watch Statement updated on March 17th is being extended.

Weather Forecast: Environment Canada is forecasting precipitation amounts up to 10 mm from Thursday to Saturday. Temperatures are expected to return to seasonal day-time highs with sub-zero temperatures at night.

Flood Outlook - Lower Ottawa River

Flood Outlook — Lower Ottawa River

A Flood Outlook Statement is being issued for areas along the Lower Ottawa River (Arnprior to Hawkesbury).

A large weather system brought 10 to 20 mm of precipitation over much of the Ottawa River basin between March 15th and 17th. This system also brought warm temperatures that triggered a rapid melting of snow in the southern portion of the Ottawa River, marking the beginning of the spring freshet in the Ottawa River basin.

SNC advises that the Flood Watch Statement issued on March 14th is being extended.

Weather Forecast: Environment Canada is not forecasting any additional precipitation. Temperatures are expected to drop to -9°C overnight.
