FLOOD WARNING - Lower Ottawa River

This FLOOD WARNING upgrades the Flood Watch issued April 25, 2025, for areas along the Lower Ottawa River (Arnprior to Hawkesbury).

Water levels and flows have been steadily rising along the Ottawa River due to recent rainfall combined with ongoing snowmelt in the northern basin. Additional increases are expected over the coming days, with further rain and meltwater forecast.

Update #1: Flood Watch - Lower Ottawa River

April 25, 2025 — This FLOOD WATCH statement is an update to the Flood Watch Statement issued for areas along the Lower Ottawa River (Arnprior to Hawkesbury) on April 23rd, 2025.

The Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board (ORRPB) warns that weather events, in particular events bringing increased temperatures and heavy rainfall, may lead to levels and flows exceeding minor flood levels in some locations along the Lower Ottawa River.

This FLOOD WATCH statement is an update to the Flood Outlook Statement issued for areas along the Lower Ottawa River (Arnprior to Hawkesbury) on April 11th, 2025.

The Ottawa River Regulating Committee warns that weather events over the next few weeks, in particular events bringing above normal temperatures and heavy rainfall, may lead to levels and flows exceeding flood levels in some locations.

Downgrade to Water Safety Statement

SNC advises that the Flood Outlook Statement of April 11th is being downgraded to a Water Safety Statement. Water levels and flows have declined throughout the week and remain stable.

Weather Forecast: Environment Canada is forecasting approximately 25 mm of rainfall over the next week, with 10 mm forecasted for Saturday and an additional 15 mm forecasted for Monday. Above zero temperatures are forecasted for most of the week with daytime temperatures ranging between 0 and 20 degrees Celsius.

Flood Outlook — Lower Ottawa River

This Flood Outlook Statement is an update to the Flood Outlook Statement issued for areas along the Lower Ottawa River (Arnprior to Hawkesbury) on March 19th, 2025.

Water levels and flows have generally stabilized in all locations along the main stretch of the Ottawa River. With the return of warmer temperatures this weekend and forecasted rainfall, water levels and flows are expected to increase due to snow melt combined with rainfall runoff.

Downgrade to Flood Outlook

SNC advises that the Flood Watch Statement of April 4th is being downgraded to a Flood Outlook. Water levels and flows have declined however, they remain elevated due to saturated soils and ongoing spring conditions.

Weather Forecast: Environment Canada is forecasting less than 10 mm of rainfall over the next week. Above zero temperatures are forecasted for most of the week with daytime temperatures ranging between 0 and 16 degrees Celsius.

SNC advises that a Flood Watch Statement is being extended in anticipation of additional snowmelt and rainfall in the upcoming week.

Weather Forecast: Environment Canada is forecasting approximately 35 mm of rainfall over the next week, with up to 20 mm forecasted on Saturday, and the potential for an additional 15 mm of rainfall by next Friday. Daytime temperatures will likely
melt remaining snow adding additional runoff to
local systems.
