Here Comes the Sun! SNC’s Seasonal Parks and Boat Launches Reopen for Summer

As summer approaches, South Nation Conservation (SNC) is excited to welcome visitors back to its seasonal Conservation Areas across
Eastern Ontario.
With the return of warmer weather and green landscapes, all SNC parks and boat ramps are now officially open for public use.
In preparation for the May Long Weekend, docks are now installed and gates opened at the following boat launch locations:
- High Falls and Doran Park Conservation Areas (Casselman)
- St. Albert Conservation Area (St. Albert)
- Crysler Park Boat Launch (Crysler)
- Embrun Boat Launch (Embrun)
- Cass Bridge Conservation Area (Winchester)
- Jessup's Falls Conservation Area (Plantagenet)
- Chesterville Waterfront Docks and Boat Launch (Chesterville)
- Spencerville Mill Riverside Park and Boat Launch (Spencerville)
In addition, the following seasonal sites, which do not feature docks, are also open for day use:
- Oak Valley Pioneer Park Conservation Area (Winchester Springs)
- McIntosh Memorial Park Conservation Area (Berwick)
- Findlay Creek Boardwalk Conservation Area (Ottawa)
- Mill Run Conservation Area (Augusta)
Portable washrooms have been installed at most SNC Conservation Areas, including year-round sites such as Warwick Forest, Robert Graham Forest, Oschmann Forest, Two Creeks Forest, Reveler, W.E. Burton, J. Henry Tweed, and Nokomis Park.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the community back to our Conservation Areas,” says John Mesman, SNC’s Managing Director. “Our team works hard to prepare the parks each spring, and it’s always rewarding to see people enjoying nature again!”
Visitors are reminded of the following guidelines when enjoying SNC Conservation Areas:
- Stay clear of dams and water control structures. Fast-moving water and changing conditions are dangerous. Fishing is prohibited within 75 feet of dams to protect public safety and fish populations.
- Follow boating safety rules. Wear a personal flotation device and reduce speeds in narrow channels, near shoreline properties, and within local communities.
- Pets must be leashed at all times. Please clean up after them.
- Pack out what you pack in. Use designated garbage and recycling bins.
- Stay on marked trails. Avoid disturbing wildlife and protect sensitive areas.
SNC manages over 20,000 acres of Community Forest in Eastern Ontario, with many of its Conservation Areas generously donated through the Land Securement Program – a long-term initiative to conserve green spaces for public enjoyment and ecological preservation.
As a not-for-profit, community-based environmental organization, SNC depends on donations and self-generated revenue to protect and enhance the natural environment across its 4,480 km2 jurisdiction, serving 16 partner municipalities.
