SNC Welcomes Summer Students to Support Environmental Initiatives

South Nation Conservation (SNC) is proud to welcome seven post-secondary students and recent graduates to its team this summer, thanks to continued support from Federal and Provincial funding programs.
“We’re proud to welcome our summer students again this year. This group of talented students will get hands-on experience in their fields of study,” says John Mesman, SNC’s Managing Director. “Every summer, we’re inspired by the energy and passion local youth bring to our conservation work.”
This year's students will gain real-world experience in environmental conservation by supporting forest management, natural hazard programs, and SNC’s popular Youth Fish Camps. Along the way, they learn the inner workings of a non-profit organization while exploring diverse career paths in the environmental sector.
"I started out as a summer student myself, so it’s really special to see things come full circle," says Brent Harbers, SNC’s Watershed Biologist. "I’ve been with SNC for 10 years now, and every summer it’s exciting to welcome a new group of students, watch them learn, and see their passion for the environment grow."
This summer’s team includes Emma Rychliwsky, Milie Campbell, Aryn Cain, Aaron Casselman, MJ Schmidt, Mégane Bédard, Emma Padbury – all from communities across Eastern Ontario, including Orléans, Crysler, Russell, and Finch.
“We look forward to welcoming career driven, environmentally conscious and enthusiastic students to SNC every year,” adds Mesman. “They are the future leaders of environmental stewardship, and we’re proud to support their growth.”
SNC posts summer student employment opportunities each January on its website at www.nation.on.ca and shares them through its official social media channels. Interested students are encouraged to visit the website early in the new year to explore opportunities and submit their applications.
