WATERSHED CONDITIONS: WATER SAFETY STATEMENT

Weather Forecast:

Environment Canada is forecasting approximately 15mm to 30mm of rain over the weekend, accompanied by temperatures that are above zero. Above zero daytime temperatures are expected to continue until Wednesday. 

Environmental Conditions:

Water runoff and flows may increase in the coming days due to expected precipitation and melting snow.

WATERSHED CONDITIONS: WATER SAFETY STATEMENT

Weather Forecast: Environment Canada is forecasting major winter storm late this week into the holiday weekend. Precipitation may begin as rain or snow late Thursday before possibly transitioning to rain in many areas by early Friday. Temperatures are expected to plummet on Friday leading to a potential flash freeze for locations that receive rainfall.

Rainfall amounts up to 25 mm are expected by Friday afternoon, followed by approximately 10 cm of snow by end of evening.

Loss of Local Decision-Making: Bill 23 Does Not Work for Eastern Ontario

More than 38 Eastern Ontario Mayors have endorsed a Conservation Authority (CA) letter to the province expressing concerns with provincial Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act.

 
The letter, written collectively by 10 Eastern Ontario CAs, was addressed to Premier Doug Ford, Minister Steve Clark, Minister Graydon Smith and Minister David Piccini.

South Nation Conservation Announces New CAO

South Nation Conservation’s (SNC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Carl Bickerdike as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective October 24, 2022.
