SNC Extended Office Hours and Parks Opening for Spring

Just in time for the Victoria Day long-weekend, South Nation Conservation (SNC) will be re-opening its parks and docks for day-use!

SNC’s network of 14 Conservation Areas are available free of charge to residents, providing countless recreational opportunities to discover wildlife and their habitat in Eastern Ontario.

Due to high water levels, Jessup’s Falls Conservation Area will remain closed for the next few weeks.

FLOOD WATCH: ST. LAWRENCE RIVER – UPDATE #3

This statement is an update to South Nation Conservation’s (SNC) Flood Watch: St. Lawrence River issued on May 12, 2017. 

According to the International Lake Ontario – St. Lawrence River Board: “Water levels on the St. Lawrence River may fluctuate; rising and falling as seen in recent weeks.  Ontario Power Generation and the International Lake Ontario – St. Lawrence River Board are operating water control structures to keep the water levels steady”

FLOOD WATCH: ST. LAWRENCE RIVER – UPDATE #2

This statement is an update to South Nation Conservation’s (SNC) Flood Watch: St. Lawrence River issued on May 9, 2017. 

South Nation Conservation (SNC) continues to caution residents along low-lying areas of the St. Lawrence River in the Township of Augusta, Township of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal, and the Township of South Dundas.  St. Lawrence River water levels are slowly declining, but are expected to remain high over the coming weeks due to high water levels in Lake Ontario and the forecasted 10-15 mm of precipitation this weekend.

FLOOD WARNING: OTTAWA RIVER – UPDATE #7

This statement is an update to South Nation Conservation’s (SNC) Flood Warning: Ottawa River issued on May 10, 2017. 

SNC continues to caution residents that water levels in the Ottawa River are currently slowly decreasing.  However, Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasts 10 to 20 mm of rain for this weekend, which may increase water levels and may cause flooding in low-lying areas between Gatineau and Hawkesbury.

FLOOD WARNING: OTTAWA RIVER – UPDATE #6

This statement is an update to South Nation Conservation’s (SNC) Flood Warning: Ottawa River issued on May 9, 2017. 

SNC continues to caution residents that water levels in the Ottawa River are currently significantly high, but are decreasing.  Environment and Climate Change Canada does not forecast significant rain for this week.  On May 10, 2017, the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board has reported water levels at Gatineau and Thurso gauges are 44.96 m and 43.51 m.

South Nation Conservation (SNC) cautions residents along low-lying areas of the St. Lawrence River in the Township of Augusta, Township of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal, and the Township of South Dundas that water levels will remain high over the next few weeks.

This statement is an update to South Nation Conservation’s (SNC) Flood Warning: Ottawa River issued on May 8, 2017. 

SNC continues to caution residents that water levels in the Ottawa River are currently significantly high, but are not expected to further increase.  The South Nation Jurisdiction received 1 to 2 mm of precipitation on Monday and Environment and Climate Change Canada does not forecast significant rain for this week.
