This statement is an update to South Nation Conservation’s (SNC) Flood Warning: Ottawa River issued on May 7, 2017. 

SNC continues to caution residents that water levels in the Ottawa River are currently significantly high, but are not expected to further increase.  On May 8, 2017 the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board has reported water levels at Gatineau and Thurso gauges are 45.18 m and 43.69 m.

This statement is an update to South Nation Conservation’s (SNC) Flood Warning: Ottawa River issued on May 4, 2017.

SNC continues to caution residents that water levels in the Ottawa River continue to increase significantly.

Environment and Climate Change Canada continues to forecast high precipitation from tonight until Sunday which will contribute to high water levels and localized flooding along the Ottawa River.

SOUTH NATION JURISDICTION ALONG THE OTTAWA RIVER – South Nation Conservation (SNC) cautions residents in the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet that water levels in the Ottawa River continue to increase significantly.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport station) is forecasting approximately 50 mm rain from tonight until this weekend which will contribute to high water levels and localized flooding along the Ottawa River.

WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – FLOOD OUTLOOK

South Nation Conservation (SNC) cautions residents that water levels are expected to rise this week due to heavy rainfall.

Environment and Climate Change Canada is forecasting approximately 30-60 mm rain for this week. The forecasted weather will cause fast runoff to watercourses, which will increase river levels and flows throughout the South Nation watershed.

Celebrate 70 Years of Conservation with SNC at May 11 Open House

Save the Date!  On May 11, South Nation Conservation (SNC) will be opening its doors to schools and the public for an exciting event to celebrate their 70 years of environmental conservation. 

After nearly 300 participants from local schools end an Eco-Adventure Day at SNC, SNC’s public Open House will begin.  The Open House will take place at SNC’s Administration Office, 38 Victoria Street in Finch, ON, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Everyone is welcome!

FLOOD WATCH ENDED: OTTAWA RIVER

April 26, 2017

SOUTH NATION JURISDICTION ALONG THE OTTAWA RIVER – South Nation Conservation (SNC) has ended the Flood Watch issued April 21, 2017 for the Ottawa River along the municipal boundary of the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet.

The Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board has reported water levels on the main stem of the Ottawa River between Chats Lake and the Montreal are expected to continue to slowly decline over the next few days.
