Media Message - Reports of Dead Fish in South Nation River

South Nation Conservation (SNC) is aware that a number of dead fish, known as a fish kill, has been reported in the South Nation River.

The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) is the responding agency and is investigating the situation.

Public inquiries should be directed to the MOECC Cornwall District Field Office at 613-933-7402.

Come on out for a Day of Family Fun in Berwick on June 25!

South Nation Conservation (SNC), McIntosh Park Committee, and Chalmers United Church invite you to Berwick on June 25 for a fun-filled day for the family!

The day’s events begin at 10:30 am and will wrap up at 3:00 pm.  There will be a free lunch with music and children’s games at the McIntosh Park Conservation Area located at 6 Cockburn Street, Berwick, Ontario.

FLOOD OUTLOOK: OTTAWA RIVER – TERMINATED

South Nation Conservation (SNC) is terminating the Flood Outlook Statement: Ottawa River issued on May 30, 2017. 

The Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board has stated: “Recent rainfall and ongoing showers over parts of the basin have slowed water level decline in most locations along the main stem of the Ottawa River. In the next few days, water levels are expected to gradually decline in most locations along the main stem of the Ottawa River.”

Drop a line at SNC’s 9th Annual Youth Fish Camp

Due to popular demand, South Nation Conservation’s (SNC) 9th annual Youth Fish Camp will take place at 2 venues this year: Cass Bridge Conservation Area in Winchester and High Falls Conservation Area in Casselman.

“Our free 2-day camp teaches youth the rules of fishing, where to drop a line, selecting equipment, baiting – including fly-tying, and casting. Both Camp sites offer accessible docks, so youth of all abilities are welcome to join,” said SNC Communications Assistant Holly Nyenkamp.

FLOOD OUTLOOK STATEMENT: OTTAWA RIVER – UPDATE #2

This statement is an update to South Nation Conservation’s (SNC) Flood Outlook Statement: Ottawa River issued on May 23, 2017. 

Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board has stated: “Ongoing rainfall of 10 to 30 mm over the basin will slow water level decline in some locations from Mattawa down to the Grenville /Hawkesbury area. Water levels are expected to continue to gradually decline in most locations along the main stem of the Ottawa River over the coming week”.
