WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT: FLOOD OUTLOOK
South Nation Conservation (SNC) is downgrading the “Flood Watch” statement issued on April 6th to “Flood Outlook” as the water levels in rivers and streams are receding. The purpose of this bulletin is to provide information regarding the forecasted weather and the potential of flooding throughout the SNC jurisdiction.
Although water levels in rivers and streams are receding, the water levels remain high and some nuisance flooding may still be observed in low lying areas. Environment and Climate Change Canada is forecasting 60% chance of showers tomorrow (5-10 mm) and mostly sunny weather for the remainder of the week with a 60% chance of showers (5-10 mm) on Sunday. The forecasted weather is not expected to cause flooding at this time.
Residents are advised to stay away from rivers due to the high water and slippery river banks. Parents are encouraged to explain these dangers to their children.
SNC staff will continue to monitor the water levels and weather forecasts as part of the Flood Forecasting and Warning program and will provide updates as required.
