Join SNC for a Snowshoe Hike at Warwick Forest!

13-Jan-2017 13-Jan-2017

Save the date!  South Nation Conservation (SNC) invites you to Warwick Forest Conservation Area on Saturday, January 28th, 2017 to kick off their 70th Anniversary Celebrations with a snowshoe hike.

The snowshoe hike is the first of many events planned in 2017 to celebrate SNC’s 70th Anniversary. “We are extremely proud of our 70 years of environmental conservation, management and protection,” said Lisa Van De Ligt, SNC Communications Specialist. “We have many celebratory events planned for the community this year; an open house, a bus tour, a fishing derby, and much more.”  Event details will be posted on SNC’s website at www.nation.on.ca/events throughout the year.

Starting at 11:00 a.m. on January 28, SNC staff will be at the Warwick Forest Conservation Area trailhead. SNC will have snowshoes on hand for participants to borrow free of charge for their hike, if they do not already have their own pair.  Participants are welcome to bring their own cross-country skis, which are also a great way to explore the Forest.  Free hot chocolate will be available; a perfect way to warm up after a winter adventure! The event will wrap-up at 3:00 p.m.

Warwick Forest Conservation Area is located on Berwick Road (County Road 9), approximately 6 km east of Berwick, North Stormont.

Participants can use SNC’s Warwick Forest Interpretive Brochure for their self-guided hike.  The 4 km of interpretive trails take visitors through various wildlife habitats; it is a great opportunity to explore the beauty of winter. Geocaching enthusiasts will also enjoy the various caches hidden throughout the property.

In addition to the Warwick Interpretive Trail, SNC offers year-round recreation at many other properties in the area. Visit https://www.nation.on.ca/recreation/winter-recreation for more information on these sites.
