This workshop seeks to connect youth to their culture, regardless of what they already know. It is a call to action, to take time to heal yourself, open your mind to others, and includes teachings of keeping/maintaining a Good Mind. What is a good mind? It is the act or practice of going forward each day, seeking to improve your own knowledge, help others to learn or to improve ones’ own mind.
It is a character tool to ensure that the person preserving the good mind takes steps to relax, consider the viewpoint of others and open the self to listening and learning. There is a lot to know when it comes to being Onkwehonwe, Shannon seeks to connect some of the dots, share knowledge of wampum and ask each person who takes this workshop to consider passing the teaching of pride, unity and peace to others or to hold onto in your daily life.
