South Nation Conservation (SNC) invites residents to attend an online public information session to learn more about new floodplain and erosion hazard maps for their areas along Findlay Creek and the North Castor River within the City of Ottawa.
Natural hazard maps are used by the City and SNC when updating official plans and zoning schedules, and in reviewing development applications to protect people and property from natural hazards and guide sustainable development activities.
Development projects within natural hazard areas (like floodplains) require permission from the Conservation Authority before proceeding. SNC updates natural hazard maps on behalf of its partner municipalities when requested.
Tune in live at 7:00 pm for a general presentation from SNC staff on the new natural hazard mapping in your area: www.youtube.com/SouthNationCA
Residents in affected natural hazard areas will receive a letter from SNC and may schedule a meeting to discuss the updated maps with SNC staff. Meetings can be scheduled weekdays and evenings from November 16 to November 27. Please schedule your meeting here.
