On Saturday, October 22, 2022, South Nation Conservation (SNC) will be hosting a Community Day event at J. Henry Tweed Conservation Area in Russell.
The event will feature a restoration project update and property tour from SNC staff, bioengineering project update, along with a water quality demonstration.
We will also be planting 100-150 trees on this day in continuation of our ongoing restoration activities. We are seeking volunteers to come help get some trees in the ground!
Main restoration project activities have included: native tree and shrub planting to help reduce erosion; repairing existing erosion and streambank stabilization; removing hazard trees for public safety; and restoring in stream habitat to increase biodiversity.
