WATERSHED CONDITIONS: WATER SAFETY STATEMENT
Watershed Conditions: Water Safety Statement
February 16th, 2018
Weather Forecast:
A significant weather system is forecasted to cross the province over the weekend and into next week. Environment and Climate Change Canada is forecasting 20-40 mm of rain starting Monday, February 19th through Wednesday, February 21st. In addition, above freezing temperatures are forecasted starting Sunday, February 18th.
Environmental Conditions:
Water levels across the jurisdiction are at normal conditions. The amount of snow on the landscape is normal for this time of year in most areas.
Risks:
The forecasted precipitation and associated snowmelt are likely to produce high water levels and possible nuisance flooding.
ACTION:
Residents are advised to exercise caution when near rivers as the forecasted weather may rapidly increase river flows and cause slippery river banks. Parents are encouraged to explain these dangers to their children.
Duration:
This statement is in effect until Friday, February 23rd, 2018.
