All Aboard the SNC Annual Bus Tour
One of the best ways to get a close-up view of the local landscape is by coach. You don’t have to focus on the driving, you’re up high looking through expansive windows, and the seats are extra comfy.
That’s just part of the attraction of the annual South Nation Conservation (SNC) bus tour coming up June 25th, rain or shine. The bus departs from the J.R. Brisson Complex in Casselman at 8 a.m., returning at 4 p.m.

“The popularity of annual tour has really been growing,” said Ronda Boutz, SNC Team Lead, Communications and Outreach. “Sometimes, we’ve had to turn people away because every seat was taken.”
While the tour is a relaxing way to spend the day, Boutz pointed out the main objective is to inform residents about the ecology right outside their backdoors… or, in this case, their bus windows.
“Tour participants over the years have been amazed at what they’ve discovered about area water resources, flood control measures, wildlife and fish habitat, reforestation, and pollution reduction partnerships with the agricultural community and other property owners.”
This time, the tour is headed to the north-eastern region of SNC’s jurisdiction, through parts of the United Counties of Prescott-Russell.
SNC staff will describe points of interest along the way and provide more detailed information at several stops where passengers will be invited to briefly disembark.
Boutz urged attendees to dress in comfortable field clothes and to avoid open-toed shoes and sandals.
“It’s not physically demanding but there could be some rough terrain.”
