You don’t want to miss out on this premier event. This year’s Provincial event will be in Ottawa hosted by the Lower Ottawa Valley, Lanark & District, Renfrew and the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry Chapters of the OWA.
When: Friday and Saturday April 15 and 16, 2016
Where: Ramada Ottawa on the Rideau (2259 Prince of Wales Drive) and the Centurion Conference and Event Centre (170 Colonnade Road) Ottawa Ontario.
DAY 1 (Friday April 15) – Your choice between two tours, a reception and evening social
Tour 1 is a rural tour that will take you around rural Ottawa. Tour highlights include: Ferguson Forest Centre (FFC) in Kemptville, the history of the Rideau Canal in Merrickville, Smith Falls, Perth, Wheeler’s Pancake House and Logging Museum, maple syrup production, Lanark Highlands and woodlot owners, Forest certification, town of Almonte and more. While travelling, a brief history of the Ottawa and St. Lawrence River Valleys will be presented.
Tour 2 is an urban tour through the city of Ottawa. Tour highlights include: Lee Valley Tools headquarters, the Vanier sugar bush, Rideau Hall and grounds, and the Dominion Arboretum.
Both tours will be leaving by bus from the Ramada Ottawa on the Rideau at 8:00 am.
Finish your day with a Reception and Evening Social at the Ramada Ottawa on the Rideau.
DAY 2 (Saturday April 16) — the woodlot conference and AGM is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Some of this year’s topics include the history of Ottawa and forestry; bio-fuels; species at risk; forest management from South Nation and more. There will be prizes to win and a silent auction.
