In 2016, La Nation municipality has committed to planting a 40 acre parcel of land over a 3 year period which will contribute to future wildlife habitat and increased forest cover in their municipality. This site will be planted with a wide vareity of species suitable for this site and will be seeded with White Clover which is an excellent species for bird and bee populations. On Saturday May 7th, groups from Scouts Canada will be planting 450 trees at this location. By planting trees, youth learn about the important role trees have in our lives, the critical need for conservation, the huge impact of climate change and how we can do our part to create a better world.
South Nation Conservations Board of Directors and La Nation Members of Council will be present for a photo opportunity to promote the planting project from 11:30-12:30.
Scouts will begin planting around 10am and a BBQ will be provided for volunteers after the planting is done.
