Tree Planting Services
SNC has planted over 2 million trees in the past 25 years for landowners across the watershed. We work on a cost recovery basis. SNC tenders contractors for planting and spot spraying trees. Landowners receive the benefit of paying the contractors bid for a lumps sum (price/thousand). A minimum of 1,000 trees is necessary for tree planting services. We are your local experts in environmentally friendly forest management, and offer a variety of planting services, including:
-
Inspection of your site during a site visit to help you match trees to soil
drainage development of a planting map and prescription for the tree planters to follow.
If you wish to plant trees without the services of a contractor, we have a cold storage facility where trees are safely stored prior to pick up. Those who have purchased trees will be notified by mail, with information of pick up date, time, and location (map) of our contracted storage facility. The date for tree pick-up depends on when nurseries can lift and ship trees.
We pride ourselves on offering stock native to Eastern Ontario. A variety of deciduous and coniferous trees is available. Trees will be available for planting in early spring. If possible, orders should be placed the year before planting. The best time to order trees is in the summer for the following spring. At that time of year you have more choices of species. Although next spring seems far away, the sooner you order your trees, the better your chances of receiving the species you want.
SNC accepts orders in multiples of 50 seedlings per species with a minimum of 100 seedlings per order. We can also arrange planting for orders of more than 1000 trees. A site visit is required if you prefer to use our planting service.
Minimum orders of 100 seedlings only (50 per species). There is an administration fee of $20.00 for landowners within our watershed. Planting costs are extra, and all orders are subject to applicable taxes. Landowners wishing a site visit from one of our forestry technicians are subject to a $40.00 charge. Orders must be paid in full before receipt of trees. Availability subject to change depending on nursery inventory and seedling performance. An invoice will be sent when availability is determined.
