Use Caution Around Watercourses
The continuing warm temperatures have caused gradual increases in water levels in ditches and streams and the breakup of ice cover. SNC cautions residents along watercourses to be aware of the hazards associated with high water levels and dam operations and encourages parents to educate their children about these hazards. SNC will be monitoring weather forecasts and daily water levels and will issue a flood advisory or warning message as required. See watershedconditions.com for the current water levels throughout the watershed.

SNC Elections for 2010
At its Annual General Meeting, held February 18th, the Board elected Mayor Ken Hill of Russell Township as Chair of SNC for 2010. Mayor Denis Pommainville of Nation Municipality was elected Vice-Chair, and Floyd Dingwall, past Mayor of Finch Township, was appointed as past Chair. All three elected officials bring many years of experience to guide SNC.

Cache In/Trash Out (CITO)
The Geocachers of Eastern Ontario will receive a $500 River Program Grant from SNC for their CITO day on April 24th. Starting at Cass Bridge Conservation Area, the Geocachers will not only collect garbage from the River and SNC properties, they will also establish new geocaches along the river and nearby trails. SNC will create its own Geocoins, and its numerous geocaches are already popular sites for this high-tech sport.
